About me
My name is Maya. I am thirteen and the creative behind Maya Creates Arty Things: Painted Paws. Many folks have asked what inspired me to create this business, so I thought I'd share here. I am a creative. I have always enjoyed art as a hobby - and I love animals. I've sculpted cats, dogs and birds out of recycled materials. I've even made a horse bike (it took over two years!) And more recently, after returning from my trip to Florida for Tihar where I dove deep into painting my favorite dogs (I shared a bit about it here), I had so many friends ask me for paintings of their pets. It reached the point where at the dinner table, after a recent trip to the art supply store, my parents said "You're spending lots of time and energy on these, and they are so good! You could . . . and maybe should... do this for money." So. . . i did.

10 Things About Me:
I am Nepali American - and have lived in both countries, but currently live in Nepal
I love dogs. Each and every kind, but I do have my favorites (another top ten list below, keep scrolling!)
I love art and crafting (especially painting animals)
I love horses. Fun fact, I recently spent 2.5 years working on making a life size, undulating, rideable bicycle pony) ….and snakes ( I really want a pet ball python).
My idea of a perfect day is either being in my basement at my art station listening to music/listening to a movie, crafting/arting with my dogs sitting at my feet, OR having one million dogs around me, riding a horse, all of this while eating really good food.
When I'm not sitting at my art station…I enjoy hanging out with my dogs, or my friends and spending time with my family, or being in nature especially hiking or camping.
I also care a lot about my pets, which in the USA are my dogs, Tika and Tilly, (both Bernedoodles) hermit crabs and snails and now in Nepal, I have an aquarium with fish but more rewarding are Momo and Kaliah, two street dogs that I feed and care for who hang at our family compound in Nepal.
Some of my favorite foods are: ice cream, cheesecake, mo:mos (a traditional Nepali dumpling,) tacos, burritos, my moms home-made sourdough pizza, mashed potatoes, sushi, fresh rolls, whipped cream, caesar salad with spaghetti, and pho.
Some of my favorite drinks are: boba, fizzy apple cider, chocolate milkshakes, and lemonade.
My favorite movies are 10 things I hate about you, Bad Guys 2, and Spider Man- Brand New Day

Other questions I'm often asked:
How long have you been a creative??
Since I was a teensy-tinsy child, but according to my mom, ever since in was able to choose my outfits. I have been supported my close family forever, which I am very grateful for. ( My uncle Peter has been supplying me with art supplies since I was 2 years old!)
Do you have any pets??
I have two black Bernedoodles: Tika, and Tilly, and two purple pincher hermit crabs, all of which are being fostered in the U.S. In Nepal I have fish, and I take care of two street dogs, Momo, and Caliah.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
if you asked my four year old self that....I would say "Mountaineer, Rat catcher, and Artist." If you asked my modern day self...I'd say, I'm not sure. I want to do something that involves animals (opening a pet care business, zookeeper, working at a sanctuary, etc) and will likely have a full/side job as an artist.
What art project are you most proud of?
most definitely my horse bike (if you are interested in this, my instagram page has photos and updates of the horse bike!)
What's your favorite color?
RAINBOW - but besides that, the color of the inside of a dragon fruit thats pink. (the deep magenta/purple and very vibrant color)
What's one of your dreams?
My biggest dream that I would love to come true is starting a rescue center in Nepal and serve as a dog career educator and work to remove stray dogs from the streets of Nepal. Some other smaller more random dreams I have are one day having a miniature donkey- among other pets, having many doggys, having a pet snake, and one day having a horse or three.
My dogs, because why not?
As you know my dogs are Tika and Tilly. They are both bernedoodles who my family adopted/rescued, we got Tika when she was just a little puppy, and Tilly when she was about 1 year old. Even though they are from different parents, Tika and Tilly are bonded sisters. They are pretty much my favorite people (yes, I said what I said) and -in my opinion- the absolute best girls in the entire universe. Tika is the smaller dog, Tilly is the larger one. Here are some pictures!

The Strays, because they're also my dogs.
While I live in Nepal, Tika and Tilly are in the U.S. and there have been two strays that come and eat, sleep, and hang out at our house. Their names are Caliah (the balck one,) and Momo (the tan one.) I love them both so very much and they are such sweethearts, and again, in my opinion, the best boys eveerrr. So, here are some pictures of them for you to admire!
Right now - I'm fundraising for MoMo because he was attacked by another dog trying to dominate the territory. . . he has so many wounds and we're trying to get vets who tend to street dogs to visit after the holiday season.

One thing I love so very much are dogs. So of course, whenever I see a dog I love or think is too cute to ignore (which is every dog I see) I kindly ask the owner if I could "please say hi to your [their] dog?" because what else am I supposed to do!? So, I figured, even though I love every dog on the face of the planet, I would list some of my favorite breeds for you (not in order)
